I can't use RPG Maker because the trial version keeps blocking me, and I am unable to launch it directly from steam since I have Vista and have to Run as Administrator to get it to even work. I'm not all that tech savvy so I don't know what to do at this point. The Degica one does not have any size or version listed on the side and is what I believe to be the trial program. One has the publisher Enterbrain, the other Degica. I now have two RPG MAKER programs in my control panel. By improving the operating environment, the program can now provide support for a full-colour display and greatly enhanced graphic capabilities.

In fact the installed date for the old one I attempted to remove changed from 2014 to 2015 which leads me to believe that the trial version simply reinstalled itself. RPG MAKER XP is full of the functions you've been asking for, including game data encryption and a scripting feature that lets you change the very heart of the RPG MAKER engine. I've tried uninstalling the old one and even though it says initially that it uninstalled successfully, when I close the uninstall programs window (control panel) and re-open it, it is still in my programs list. Now when I go to use my full version, it continues to give me the expired trial screen.

Yesterday I finally bought the full version over Steam and installed it forgetting that the trial version was still present on my computer. So in short: Best one to use right now is XP.So about a year ago I had downloaded the trial version of RPG MAKER XP to fiddle around with, and it obviously has expired. The good thing is that you can just use ressources for older or newer versions.Īnd when I had a look at MV earlier today and remembered they want about 80€ for it, I just shook my head in disbelief. In VX and MV it is limited to a few sets with maximum dimensions. They overcomplicated things in VX and removed a crucial feature which gave you a lot of freedom when designing your maps.Īfter stumbling upon problem after problem with VX, since they managed to make things worse while aiming to improve stuff, I decided to go back to XP and realize my project there. In XP you can just use one giant image with all tilesets in the whole friggin world if you want. Also, you are now limited in how many tiles you can use in one set. Now when I go to use my full version, it continues.

In XP, I just could use the second and third layer, even for ground tiles. Stuck On Trial (XP) Hello everyone, So about a year ago I had downloaded the trial version of RPG MAKER XP to fiddle around with, and it obviously has expired.

Want a tree top to overlap something else than ground tiles? Use events or bugger off now. Since the beginning of RPG Maker, every new version was basically just better graphics and some minor new features.įrom VX onwards they made the horrible, horrible choice to remove the layer selection when drawing tiles on a map. Good thing I used the trial of MV, but I regret buying VX and some DLC for it. VX and even more so MV are a waste of money. I tried to accomplish something with VX for a few month now, and today I had a look at MV:Ģ0 were good, XP is mostly the same, just with better visuals.
